Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5 on October 7 for high-volume, cost-sensitive work and subagent tasks alongside larger Claude models. Prompts up to 100K tokens are priced at $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens; longer prompts cost $0.50 and $2.50 respectively. Anthropic estimates about 75% lower average workload cost than Haiku 4.5 and adds adjustable effort to the Haiku class for the first time. Haiku 5.5 is available on the Claude Platform, AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure under model ID claude-haiku-5-5. The same launch halves Sonnet 5.5 cache-read pricing.

LlamaIndex launches OpenDocRouter, one API for frontier and open document parsers with unified Markdown and layout grounding

LlamaIndex launched OpenDocRouter on October 7 as a unified document-to-Markdown API spanning frontier and open-source parsing models. The initial catalog includes Claude Opus 5.5, Gemini 3/3.8 Flash, GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6 Luna alongside open models such as MinerU2.5-Pro and PaddleOCR-VL-1.6. Each model runs through a versioned recipe and is benchmarked on ParseBench for quality and cost. The API accepts PDF, PNG, JPEG or URLs, supports synchronous jobs up to 50 pages and inputs up to 500 pages or 50MB, and can apply a common grounding engine for reading order, bounding boxes and standardized layout classes.
